10 Things You Need To Know About This Event

1. FAMILY FOCUSED, PET FRIENDLY

The Saint Side show is a family focused event. So bring the littles ones, and even the fur children (on a leash).  There are lots of areas surrounding the bicycle centre in Green Gully for families to lay down a picnic rug, or setup some chairs in the shade, and stay entertained through the day, listen to music, get the kids to ride their bikes inside the venue, and have a wholesome, fun, low cost day out.

 

2. FREE PARKING

There are hundreds of spots on site and they are all FREE > parking info here <. We will have parking marshals onsite to assist you on the day. Please follow their instructions.

 

3. YOU CAN WIN A LOWRIDER BIKE!

Our vendors and sponsors put together a range of giveaways on the day for a raffle which occurs during our closing ceremony around 5.30pm. These prizes are usually divided into a few packs, with the major prize being a Saint Side Lowrider bike valued at over $1300! Every entrant who purchases an early bird ticket will get a raffle ticket upon their arrival, but additional raffle tickest can be purchased from the Saint Side tent on the day. WINNERS MUST BE PRESENT TO COLLECT THEIR PRIZE. And all moneys raised are donated to Not For Profits such as the Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre itself to help with maintenance.

 

4. GREEN GULLY PARK IS HUGE

Green Gully as a site has a tree area providing natural shade, a large kids play area, a gated dog park, a basketball court, and a fitness area that is all free to use on the day. So feel free to take a walk around the venue and check it all out, its all just a few seconds walk from our Show and Shine at the Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre

 

5. ADMIRE BUT DO NOT TOUCH

Please understand all of the bicycle entrants, and cool cars that arrive on the day, are someone's pride and joy, and as such should be treated with respect. This also goes for families with young children attending, please assure you don't touch things that do not belong to you, and that your family does the same.  It will create a great environment to respect other peoples property.  However most bicycle owners and car enthusiasts are great to talk to, so if you see an owner nearby their pride and joy, feel free to strike up a conversation and get to know them.

 

6. TAKE A BREAK

The event is action packed for 6 hours, and outdoors. There is lots going on from the minute we start, bicycles on show, voting on facebook, cool cars outside, music, cool market stalls to check out, food trucks to help you when you're hungry and sweets for the pick me up, the bicycle drag race and skid competition, it just does.. not.. stop.  Feel free to bring a picnic rug or camping chair, park up under the shade somewhere, and enjoy your time there. With entry, you will receive a wrist band that will allow you to come and go as you please too, in case you want to leave, and come back for the awards or raffle.

 

7. THE BICYCLE EVENTS

Mid afternoon there are two major bicycle events during the peak of the day.

"EXEDY Clutches Bicycle Drag Race" sees riders in a 1v1 race around the bicycle track in top speed, doing round robin rules winner stays on, until one can be crowned the fastest of the day. With a CASH PRIZE for first and second place, it's a heap of fun to watch. 

"May's Conveyancing Longest Skid Competition" sees riders perform a skid from a starting point, and then measured for their contact patch.  The longest skid on the day wins, with another CASH PRIZE up for grabs for the winner.

 

8. WE HAVE A WATER FOUNTAIN ON SITE 

Our major sponsor "Dynamic Construction" assist us on the day by providing the important ammenities for us all.  This includes a water fountain to keep you hydrated, and refill bottles if needed, as well as the toilets which are located on the rear side of the main building.

 

9. ALL MONEY RAISED GOES TO NOT FOR PROFITS

The complete ticket price is split between three not for profits. The Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre to help maintain and improve the site, the Saint Side Events Inc. to allow us to continue to throw big (and small) events around the community to promote fun, engaging ways to bike ownership, and a third randomly selected by our ticketing agent Humanitix.

 

10. SUPPORT LOCAL INDEPENDENT BUSINESS' AT THE SHOW

This year we have some new and old faces in the market stalls and food truck areas of the show. Including local food shops, independent artists and brand owners, and local creatives showcasing their work, so be sure to take some time, walk around check out all of the market stalls, grab something cool, a bite to eat or something sweet. The people who own the business' are the ones there working the business' also, so here is our chance to support them.
